Nau Kot Fort, Tharparkar

Location: Near Nau Kot town, District Tharparkar

Brief: Naun Kot fort is about sixty-three kilometers southeast of Mirpur Khas, with coordinates of 24.8⁰ N and 69.4⁰ E. The fort’s layout is roughly quadrangular. The main entrance of the fort is on the northeastern corner. There is a square courtyard after the main gate, The courtyard is surrounded by a rampart giving it added protection. Barracks have been constructed around the open courtyard and under the rampart; positioned on the northern and eastern side of the courtyard. The fort is protected by nine bastions, four defending the corners of the fort, two positioned on the main gate, and three at the centre of each side wall. There are numerous embrasures in the wall battlements and bastions of the fort.
Naun Kot fort has been fully restored by the EFT. The magnificent fort itself coupled with its scenic beauty; it has the potential of being a tourist destination.
